The color is a  polychrome laced with a chartreuse edge. The substance is smooth. SOLDIER BOY looks better as the day goes on, which is one of the reasons I like it. Another reason is the chartreuse edge on this tall daylily. With green edges on the horizon for us, we'd like to see   SOLDIER BOY as a parent. The first generation genetics of Soldier Boy are Southern (Thanks to Larry Grace and Jack Carpenter)  however the daylily performs quite well in Ohio, zone 5.
